Soft butch

A soft butch is a lesbian that exhibits some stereotypical butch lesbian traits, but not to the extreme of an actual butch lesbian. These traits may or may not include such things as short hair, male labeled clothing, and male labeled mannerisms/behaviors. Soft butches generally appear androgynous, rather than adhering to strictly feminine or masculine normatives. In the spectrum of lesbians, a soft butch lies in-between a chapstick lesbian and a butch lesbian. Soft butches are less likely to make an effort to emulate male stereotypes, but rather by circumstance exhibit masculine traits.
