LGBT is the acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender. The four components that make up the LGBT community are defined as follows:
| Letter | Meaning |
|---|---|
| L | Lesbian |
| G | Gay |
| B | Bisexual |
| T | Transgender |
Sometimes other letters are added to the acronym, especially when used as part of an organization's name. They typically indicate "inclusiveness".
| Letter | Meaning |
|---|---|
| A | Allies (as in friends, often Heterosexual), rarely Asexual |
| I | Intersex |
| Q | Queer, sometimes "Questioning" |
