The description of the book makes the claim to be a "reference for child psychiatrists and psychologists on gender identity disorder in children: phenomenology; epidemiology; diagnosis and assessment; associated psychopathology; etiology; treatment; and long-term follow-up." Due to the main authors lack of creditability when it comes to the psychological well-being and harm reduction of youth transgender clients, it is not likely this resource will be unbiased towards educating a mental health practitioner about treatment options.
