Cure

Although many aspects of transgenderism are deemed medical conditions, there are no cures, as such. Further to that, a large number of transgendered people do not want a cure that forces them to live as the assigned birth gender.

There is, however, medical treatment that is possible and available.

[edit] Treatment for Intersexed People

Many intersexed people are treated (usually via surgical operation) during infancy. In adult life similar choices to Transsexuals exist (i.e. Gender reassignment surgery).

[edit] Treatment for Cross-dressers

Therapy is the only currently recognised treatment for cross-dressers (who do not subsequently go on to transition). It is likely that demand for treatment among cross-dressers is very limited - although often socially unacceptable cross-dressing tends to be harmless.

Although aversion therapy has been used on cross-dressers in the past this author lacks the medical knowledge to report on its effectiveness. By definition it is however an unpleasant experience.

[edit] Treatment for other Transgendered People

Other members of the Transgender community are limited to the treatments mentioned above.
